Strategy library
Trading strategies, written as rules you can actually test
Most strategy write-ups stop at “buy when it looks strong”. That can’t be backtested, and it can’t be automated. Every page here spells a strategy out the way a computer needs it: the exact entry, the stop, the exit, how big to trade, and when to sit out. Where it’s an options structure, you get the payoff arithmetic at expiry with a Nifty lot, so you can see the worst case before you see the best one.
What you won’t find is a win rate or a return figure. A number like that is only honest if it comes from a backtest you can reproduce, on your instrument, with Indian costs taken out. So each page gives you a plain-English version of the rules to paste into a backtester, ours or anyone else’s, and tells you what result should make you walk away.
Options income
Sell premium, manage the tails. Time is on your side until the market moves.
Short Straddle
Sell the ATM call and put, collect both premiums, lose if Nifty moves too far. Includes the 9:20 am straddle rules.
Read the rules →Short Strangle
Sell an out-of-the-money call and put. Wider breakevens than a straddle, a smaller credit, and the same unlimited loss on a big move.
Read the rules →Iron Condor
A short strangle with protective wings: a smaller credit, a defined maximum loss and far lower margin. Four legs means four sets of costs.
Read the rules →Covered Call
Hold a full lot of an F&O stock and sell an out-of-the-money call against it each month. Premium in, upside capped, downside unchanged.
Read the rules →Options directional
A view on direction with the loss capped before you enter.
Intraday
In and out the same session, square-off before the close.
Opening Range Breakout
Mark the high and low of the first 15 minutes, trade the break, keep the stop at the other side. Simple to automate, easy to over-trade.
Read the rules →VWAP
Use VWAP as the intraday line in the sand: buy pullbacks to it in uptrends, or the reclaim after a dip below. Intraday only.
Read the rules →Trend following
Small losses often, a few big winners when a trend runs.
Moving Average Crossover
Buy when a fast moving average crosses above a slow one, exit on the cross back. Easy to test, slow to react, hurt by sideways markets.
Read the rules →Supertrend
Go long when price closes above the Supertrend line, exit or flip when it closes below. The line doubles as a trailing stop.
Read the rules →Mean reversion
Fade stretched moves and bet on a return to normal.
How to use this library without fooling yourself
Pick one strategy and one instrument. Backtest it with costs and slippage switched on, then change each number a little and run it again. If the result falls apart when the stop moves from 25% to 30%, you’ve found noise, not an edge. Our notes on overfitting and backtesting vs paper trading go through the checks in detail, and the glossary covers the vocabulary.

Describe the rules in plain English on the free plan. Backtests include brokerage, STT, GST, stamp duty and slippage.
